Se no seu primeiro álbum solo, “Unprecedented“, a frontwoaman, soprano e violinista Marcela Bovio, já famosa por suas bandas de metal sinfônico, a extinta Stream of Passion e a atual MaYan, além de integrar o projeto Ayreon, de Arjen Lucassen, fizera uma incursão pessoal ao lírico e erudito, inclusive relendo posteriormente este próprio álbum para a versão voz e piano.

Já o seu sucessor, “Through Your Eyes“, que chegará no dia sete de dezembro próximo, é uma verdadeira universalização de sentimentos “do geral para o particular”, dedutivo e intuitivo, onde a cantora e compositora colhera relatos de várias pessoas que lhe enviaram suas experiências e daí adviera as inspirações para a confecção das canções, que em seu arranjos, além de voz e piano, ganharam a adição de violino e cello, criando linhas harmônicas lindíssimas.

Nas onze canções do álbum, Miss Bovio despeja sua virtuosa voz homenageando onze histórias e situações vividas por pessoas distintas, o que lhe abriu caminho para destilar uma montanha-russa de emoções e linhas vocais ao longo deste trabalho.

Sua voz está como sempre, completa. Quer algo sublime, a faixa inicial, “Edge of the World” poderá lhe deixar encantado. Quer visceralidade, a seguinte “Scientist” lhe arrebatará. Caso queira melancolia, “Remember me” é tiro certo. “Em “Roardin”, um ar medieval esperançoso.

“Marcela lhe traz a calma em “Here to Stay“, e algo mais jazzístico na sexta faixa, “Magic Powers“, que  lhe remeterá a um clube de jazz, onde o estalar de dedos se fará automaticamente.

O álbum fecha com toda a latinidade de “Desde Adentro“, única canção em espanhol do álbum, idioma pátrio da cantora, que parece sempre entregar um que diferenciado de profundidade em sua interpretação em sua língua natural.

Em entrevista à Confraria Floydstock em julho último, Bovio nos disse que despeja intensidade em tudo que faz e, obviamente, no seu cantar não é diferente.

“Through Your Eyes” é mais um capítulo de sua carreira em que ela comprova sua completude artística, capaz de ir do nuance mais tenro ao mais alto e possante, da externalização de suas próprias emoções, assim como a enorme capacidade de por empatia, internalizar as experiências de outrem e traduzí-las em lindas e diferentes canções.

Review: “Through Your Eyes”, Marcela Bovio’s new album, is an album about empathy

It was fate’s wish that I sat down to write this review on Music and Musicians Day, since the album to be commented here is an illustration of exactly what we can allow to be music, from the best.

If on her first solo album, “Unprecedented“, the frontwoaman, soprano and violinist Marcela Bovio, already famous for its symphonic metal bands, the extinct Stream of Passion and the current MaYan, besides integrating the project Ayreon, Arjen Lucassen, had made a personal foray into the lyric and erudite, including later re-reading this own album for the voice and piano version.

His successor, “Through Your Eyes“, which will arrive on December 7, is a true universalization of feelings “from the general to the private”, deductive and intuitive, where the singer and songwriter had received reports from several people who sent their experiences and gave inspiration to the making of the songs, which in their arrangements, besides voice and piano, won the addition of violin and cello, creating beautiful harmonic lines.

In the eleven songs of the album, Miss Bovio dumps her virtuous voice honoring eleven stories and situations experienced by distinguished people, which paved the way for distilling a roller coaster of emotions and vocal lines throughout this work.

Your voice is as always, complete. If you want something sublime, the initial track, “Edge of the World” could delight you. If you want viscerality, the next “Scientist” will take you away. If you want melancholy, “Remember me” is a sure shot. “In “Roardin“, a hopeful medieval air.

“Marcela brings you the calm in “Here to Stay” and something more jazzy in the sixth track,”Magic Powers,“which will send you to a jazz club, where the snapping of fingers will be done automatically.

The album closes with all the latinity of “Desde Adentro“, the only Spanish song on the album, the singer’s native language, who always seems to deliver a different depth her interpretation in its natural language.

In an interview with Confraria Floydstock last July, Bovio told us that she turns out to be intense in everything she does and obviously hes singing is no different.

“Through Your Eyes” is another chapter of her career in which she demonstrates her artistic completeness, able to move from the more tender nuance to the highest and most powerful of the externalization of her own emotions, as well as the enormous capacity for empathy to internalize the experiences of others and translate them into beautiful and different songs.
